Adrian Pitman
Adrian Pitman served as a member of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) from 1962 until 1982 and subsequently, as a Senior Technical office with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and Technical Director in the Australian Department of Defence for thirty-five years. During this time, he held several director positions involving Software Engineering, Quality Assurance and Acquisition Project Management.
Adrian also worked for six years in the commercial world in the space, telecommunication, and the rail transportation industries; the latter as Site Manager of Bombardier Transportation Pty Ltd production facility located in Maryborough, Queensland.
During his fifty-five years of RAAF, RAN and Defence service, Adrian worked on five generations of RAAF jet fighter/bomber aircraft including: Canberra, Vampire, Sabre, Mirage, Phantom F4, F111C and more recently the F-35 Lightning II multi-role fighter. He also participated in the acquisition of the RAN Seahawk Helicopter, the RAAF AP3-C Orion - Maritime Patrol Aircraft and the HF Modification (HF MOD) Communication System.
During his appointment as Director of Acquisition Engineering Improvement in the Australian Department of Defence, Adrian participated in and lead multiple independent reviews of the F-35 Program for Defence, including participation as the only foreign national team member on the US Congress mandated review of F-35 Software development in 2013.
As Director Acquisition Engineering Improvement in the Department of Defence Adrian initiated, managed and helped co-developed the Defence Schedule Compliance Risk Assessment Methodology (SCRAM).
Adrian lives with his family in the Fraser Coast region of Queensland and spends his spare time as a member and Immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Maryborough-Sunrise.
